I joined Redkite as a Partner in June 2024, and I work closely with the Head of Personal Injury (PI) and Clinical Negligence (CN), specifically overseeing the Clinical Negligence team. My primary role involves ensuring that our team delivers high-quality, compassionate legal services to our clients, while also helping to grow and develop Redkite’s reputation in this field.

Driving factors to move to Redkite

Interestingly, I wasn’t actively looking to leave my previous firm; I was quite content there. However, I was approached with an exciting opportunity, and after exploring it further, I realised the firm shared my values and vision.

Redkite is at an exciting stage of growth, and I felt this was an opportunity not to be missed. The chance to contribute to the firm’s expansion, particularly within the medical negligence area, was a major factor in my decision to join.

Moving to Redkite after spending a large portion of my entire career at a large national firm since 2000 was certainly taking me outside of my comfort zone. It was a significant decision to make, especially considering I hadn’t made a move like this since just after qualifying. However, from my first conversations with the senior team at Redkite, it was clear that the firm’s values and culture were a great fit for me.

Career Strategy – the right next step

For me, Redkite represented more than just a new role—it was a chance to join a team with aligned values and a clear focus on growth and development. While the promotion to Partner was a significant step in my career, it wasn’t the sole motivator. What really stood out was the firm's commitment to fostering innovation and supporting staff at all levels. That kind of environment is critical for personal and professional growth.

Welcoming and Supportive Environment

Since joining, I’ve felt incredibly supported. Redkite is the kind of firm that actively listens to its people and creates an environment where new ideas are encouraged and, most importantly, listened to. I’ve already had the opportunity to bring forward suggestions, and they’ve been embraced by the leadership team.

From senior management to junior staff, everyone has made me feel welcome, and this inclusive environment has allowed me to focus on driving my career forward. The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) has been very receptive, which reassures me that there’s a bright future here for myself and for the firm.

The unique opportunity at Redkite

Redkite stands out for its openness to new ideas and fresh ways of working. While my previous firms were also supportive, Redkite places a real emphasis on fostering initiative from staff at all levels. There’s a refreshing level of receptiveness here, where seniority doesn’t determine whose ideas are heard. This makes for a highly dynamic and supportive work environment.

I’d say Redkite whilst a smaller firm than my previous firm still has the ambition and capability of a larger, national firm. The quality of work we produce is on par with what you’d expect from bigger firms, but we offer a more personal, innovative, and welcoming experience.

One of the best aspects of Redkite is its flexibility. We have a great balance between remote working, time spent with the team in Cirencester and Cardiff. The firm is very understanding when it comes to work-life balance, there’s a lot of flexibility in how we structure our day. It’s a modern and adaptable approach that makes a real difference to our overall job satisfaction.
